For Taxi we’ve introduced:
Voluntary deliveries Policyholders can use their vehicle for voluntary services, like NHS deliveries or patient transfer. There’s no extra cost and no need to notify us
Extension of use to cover the carriage of goods for hire & reward (including food)
Reduction of use to SDP only with a pro-rated 50% premium reduction
Reduction of cover to Laid-Up, Fire & Theft at a flat annual fee of £500+IPT resulting in a pro-rata refund
Dual occupations without referral Lockdown has seen a diversification in earning mechanisms in the private hire market and this has been recognised in our appetite
Inclusion of spouse/civil partner to be covered to use the vehicle for SDP
Taxi safety screens As an insurer it is not within expertise to advise on the safety of these screens, nor whether they are an effective means of safeguarding against transmission of the virus. ERS are however supportive of our taxi operators taking steps to minimise the risk of transmission of the virus to them and their passengers. As such, we can confirm our motor insurance cover would extend to cover vehicles with bespoke screens fitted subject to the following:
-
- The local licensing authority has confirmed that is acceptable to install a screen
- The screen complies with relevant local authority regulations
- The screen is professionally and securely fitted (unless the screen has been designed and manufactured to allow self-installation)
